ReUse-A-Shoe
1. DROP 'EM OFF
It all starts with your old athletic shoes. Bring thme to any Nike Reuse-A-Shoe recycling location or one of our events. We'll take any brand, but check our shoe recycling guidlines before you toss tthem in the bin.
2. Ship em Out.
Once you've collected a large number of shoes, We ships them to one of their processing centers. We also look for most carbon-efficient shipping methods for maximum shipping
3. Grind em Up
At our recycling facilities, your old kicks are then sorted into three types of raw material: rubber from the outsole, foam from the midsole, and fabric fibers from the upper. We call these materials Nike Grind
4. Put em back in the game
If you thought your kicks had seen thier last play, think again. As Nike Grind, they could become part of an athletic surface, such as a court, track, field or playground and pre consumer material can even get used in NEW SHOES AND APPAREL!!!!
isnt that something, never would i have thought of this. Glad I looked into. You should try it!

B2S
...why, hello Fall!
When the season change its always a bittersweet feeling depending on whats going to take place. The biggest bittersweet feeling, I can say, is when Fall comes its time to put away the bathin suits, and "stunna shades". Throw a big duece to the cookouts, pool parties, and random late late nights.
Its officially time to get your head on right and get that education. So with that being said..are you ready to go back to school? Whether it be Middle School, High School, or College one thing that you should do is make a goal list for yourself. And when I say goals, I mean reasonable and reachable goals. Don't set your bar to high because you already know its something you can't reach. When you're making your goal list think about the good, bad, and uglys of last year and go from there. It always helps to get your mind focused on what needs to be done. One of my goals for the school year, is trying not to spread my wings to far in becoming a social butterfly. Its always good to have friends, and have fun but its my junior year in college and its time for me to be focused, and understand that my major is something that I will be doing with my life, if i want to go anywhere with it, I don't have much time to play. But I think I will be able to manage it pretty well. FYI's from me to you... Middle School: Start thinking of the future career you want and what college you would like to attend, better sooner than later it will help in the long run. High School: enjoy it. Nothing but MEMORIES, don't wild out too much, you ain't grown yet. Also, be able to manage peer pressure {I remember my high school years it was a lot of my peers who had passed away all different situations, but its not worth it} think twice. College: Be wise, independent, and stay focused. Its easy to get off track, but its harder to get back on. Use myself for an example; I slipped so fast I didn't even know. I started looking at my grades like whhhhhaat? In the beginning, everything was easy so I "kicked off my shoes & relaxed my feet" but when things started speeding up I was STILL in chill mode. lol But foreal the best advice I could give any college student is MAKE SURE YOU GO TO CLASS. Professors care more about that than the assignments they give. All right my speech here is done stepping down. lol I hope it helped somone or turned a light on over a few peoples head. HAVE A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR, BE STRESS FREE AND STAY FOCUSED.

The Evolution of Music Videos
I use to watch music videos all throughout my summer. Between BET, and MTV they couldn't get enough of me as a viewer. All that has changed. Watchin music videos on TV now is very rare, and slim to none unless you catch 106 n Park, and they barely even show the whole video now, they too busy becoming a talk show and answering questions off of Twitter etc. (DOIN TOO MUCH) But music videos have evolved, and starting to become old news. And I'm wondering why?
Remember back in the day music videos there was always controversy, because they portrayed the true meaning of the song, or they were degrading (women, specially in Hip Hop and R&B). I don't know how well you pay attention but I wonder why the music videos that are released now a days aren't such a controversial subject? Do you see what I see?
LISTEN UP
Nellys Tip Drill, one of the most controversial music videos in music video, hip hop history. Booty clappin, champagne poppin, bikinis (or slim to nothing on), and erbody had something to say! The image of the black women was being misconstrued, represented as nothing but a sex symbol, and videos like this DEGRADE black women. Tip Drill is not the only victim of this. Almost every hip hop/ rap music video has been accused of DEGRADING black women. And I must say they did do just that. Sex Sells, and black women are only seen as just that.
But what I'm trying to understand is why these BLACK women who felt as though those music videos were degrading, why are they quiet now? Music Videos are still DEGRADING black women, just in a different form, but no one seems to really see that. YOU KNOW WHY? Because now black women in music videos are slim to nothing. Even the black women who are in their own video don't appear to be black in the video. (Uhhh BEYONCE, yea I'm talkin about her). Many of you can argue that her videos are different and looked at as a form of art, time of era, etc. but I take it kind of offensive. WHY? Because Beyonce now is like the female version of Michael Jackson. Loved worldwide, and no one can replace or step in her shoes. And now that shes a nationwide icon the lighter Beyonce becomes in magazines, etc. Her music videos BLACK N WHITE, and y'all think its classic feature. But to me its just another form of the media socializing in my opinion.
ON TO THE NEXT
Also if you haven't notice black women are being replaced with Latino women in music videos, or something real close to the color of a caucasian, and if they're not in the video..well theres no women at all. Either way it goes STILL NO BLACK women. Let me rephrase that, yes they're maybe a few black faces, but black is the minority in music videos. All the leading ladies = light bright, somethin next to white, puerto rican even asian (they may have a quarter of black in them but you kno what i mean)...It makes no sense. In my eyes, I find it very offensive, because black men are always saying they want a REAL black women; long hair, petitte, big booty, etc. But we all know thats nothing near REAL. And when they have the oppurtunity to portray that REAL black women in their video they fail to do so...why is that?
Videos now like
*Drake-Best I ever Had
(producer Kanye, who also aint had a black women in his music video since Golddigger...)
*Kid Cudi- Make her say
(Nice concept, very artistic, different..BUT leading lady, she sure don't look black)
*Jeremiah- Birthday Sex
(Again Leading Lady I can't really tell what she is Puerto Rican (maybe) .15% black in her jus maybe)
*Birdman and Weezy- Always Strapped
(Even the hood reppin somethin other than they own, you see a few shades of black but look at the MAJORITY)
*Maxwell-Pretty Wings
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mLfC2kkvPw
(Now I had to do this one, I kind of got a laugh out of it because Maxwells fan base majority black women, and it appears that he had a girl to represent each race but its hard for me to decipher which girl is representing for the black women.)
Alright I think you get my point. And don't get it twisted I'm not racist. I just wanted those who haven't notice to pay attention to Media. Black Women: we are either degraded or not seen.

Welcome to Atlanta!
The Georgia Peaches are backkkkk! The Real Housewives of Atlanta for their second season. The 2nd season premieres tonight! I enjoyed the first season. All the diamonds, all the pearls, the signature bags and shoes. These women love to strut their stuff! This show gives viewers an idea of how Black folks w/ loot live like the Jeffersons and how glamorous the life is for these wives of Atlanta.
( from left to right Kandi, Nee Nee, Lisa, Kim, and Sheree)
2nd season's cast
This 2nd season I am suspecting there is going to be A LOT of drama, catty drama. But Of course No drama = no ratings right? but at the same time watching black women argue non stop and let alone be the age of 30+,acting 12 years old is not such a good look AT ALL.I will say I am tired of all these reality shows but I have to admit I like Real Housewives of Atlanta. This season DeShawn Snow(above in black dress in first photo) who is married to retired Cavaliers b-ball player Eric Snow, is being replaced by Kandi this season. Kandi was once in the group Xscape from back in the day and wrote the song"No Scrubs" n "Bills Bills Bills"=classic.
Tune in to The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Thursdays at 10pm Eastern/9pm Central on BRAVO!

Back up off Him!
TOPIC OF DISCUSSION
I don't know about you, but this whole case with Michael Vick is unheard of. NOW for PETA, and other animal lovers I'm not saying what he did wasn't wrong, but they given this man more wrath than they did O.J. and he killed his wife! ( :0 don't act like you didn't know) And the world still doesn't know if M.J molested those children but everyone is still a fan, and he was still making tracks. And I know some of these high paid sports players of some sort on some "illegal drugs", so why are y'all giving the man such a hard time?? I mean they some dogs, they run a stray, people run them over everyday, and you wanna get mad because he investing his money and time into HIS pets.
(<<<> let me rewind because I'm borderline disrespectin for that, its just more stuff in this world that people should be making a "hoot" about than dogfighting..matter of fact find Bin Laden!)
BUT on a serious note, I feel that many of us fail to realize that celebrities are still human, we all done messed up. Mo Money, Mo Problems, think of all the things you might get into when you got money in the bank. (Pssh I already know it wouldn't be lookin too good for me) I think the Media and also the NFL went a little overboard with the situation. You give him a 18 month sentence he served his time, let it go! Now you got people talkin about "having him on your team will be a distraction because no one will have answers to ALL the questions the media will ask, which means other team mates will have to be harassed by the media for answers also." ??? SQUASH all that! Mike Vick is going to come back and get someone to the playoffs. One of the best quarterbacks in the league, should be able to overcome this bump in the road. And we all know that everything is about MONEY, somebody is going to pick him up and make somethin out of this situation and it ain't gonna be no chump change. So stop talking all that IF someone signs him. Someone is going to sign him, and I can't wait to see whose field he's going to tear up! LETS GO! and LET IT GO! (PETA N OTHERS)
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to commissioner Goodell for allowing me to be readmitted to the National Football League," Vick said in a statement released by his agent, Joel Segal. "I fully understand that playing football in the NFL is a privilege, not a right, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity I have been given.
"As you can imagine, the last two years have given me time to re-evaluate my life, mature as an individual and fully understand the terrible mistakes I have made in the past and what type of life I must lead moving forward,"
*Except his apology and lets get back to our regular program.*

Well I know you have heard the rumors that Hip- Hop's couple Nas and Kelis are getting a divorce? This is true!...Shocked? I have to say that I am. These two seemed so happy and down for each other. I guess you can hide a lot behind a smile in a public. Kelis is the one who filed for divorce saying there was verbal abuse and infidelity in the relationship but WORD is... Kelis had a sex tape with a Rapper named Infrared that was leaked which brought them apart. Think about... YOUR WIFE having a sex tape with a RAPPER and you finding out about it before she told you?! smh. Not a good look Kelis. Although she did this sex tape before her and Nas got married, he still wants nothing to do with her. And thats not even the BIGGIE. Kelis was 7 months preggo when she filed for divorce, recently she had her baby boy on the 22nd of July. (btw CONGRATULATIONS ha) Anywho, she is wanting 44,000.00 A MONTH! Yes... 44,000.00 for the "child" but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that she obviously does NOT want to work and just munch off Nas money from the divorce settlement. In my opinion Kelis asking for that much a month changes my whole perception of her. I feel like that she is on the verge of a having tendencies of a GOLDDIGGER..You know: getting someone famous, getting knocked up by em and getting em for all his cash. The crazy thing is Kelis has a career. She's a singer so I'm sure she DID NOT MARRY Nas for his money because she already had her own money. So why would she need that much money a MONTH ? that puzzles me. I really thought she was a" Bonnie"=rider. I really saw these two staying together "til death do us part". But her getting preggo then filing for a divorce was perfect timing because SHE WON the settlement and NAS HAS to pay the 44,000 a month! Very ridiculous! Nas reportley makes 147,000.00 a month! That's not half of his loot but dang its a big chunk of his money that will be given to her MONTHLY. First off, its a recession and you asking for 44k a MONTH you must be out yo bleeping mind. Second, NO BABY needs 44k a MONTH to be taken care of. Kelis needs to get off her butt and do for her own, I'm sorry ma. We did not know if Nas has been completely faithful maybe or maybe not and yes I understand being married for a good period of time, you should get spousal support but no way does Nas deserve to pay 44K a MONTH for two people when one of them is a BABY. As long as he is taking care of his responsiblity by putting food on the table, clothes on they back, and roof over their head then they are set. I mean since she is getting 44k a month I hope she at least sets up a college fund for little man.

Thumbs Up and a Thumb Down
SO Im back in this biz! Man the summer is almost over and its one more album being put to my 2009 best summer albums (and Im talkin bout Hip Hop) My 1st one Deeper Than Rap- Rick Ross the Boss, 2nd one: Ruthless- Ace Hood, so the 3rd one I'm adding to my list is Losos Way- FA.BO.LO.US...whoo! whoo! lol.
I think its something in the Hip Hop water or the air thats makin many of these artist step their game up because just like our economy, Hip Hop n R&B music is goin through a recession also but after hearing LOSOS Way I'm starting to think there is HOPE! This album reminded me of back in the day when Loso was on that Holla Back Young'n & Superwoman (my jams)... but the kid is a Man now and you can hear it all throughout his album. Since the whole "Grown Man look" is IN right now, and a lot of boys are changin it up and gettin they "Grown Man" ON, this album gets FIVE GOLD STARS. My favorite song I would have to say is Stay feat Marsha (from Floetry), reason being is because its a very soulful track and at the same time its still Hip Hop. Its good when artist can mix music and it still have the same feel, and vibe to it. When I first heard the track I was jus like WOW! Thats Real, deep, thats life for many of us (I even think my eyes watered a bit)..So if you havent heard or if you dont have this album this is a MUST DO!..You MUST go and get Losos Way...TODAY! RIGHT NOW! lol
****BUT I GOT SOME MORE TO SAY*****
iight on to the next >>>
I'm a little overdue on this one but better late than never. In 2000 the radios was bumpin Just a Friend I was a fan of Mario. When people still didn't know who he was when he dropped Let Me Love you, I was a fan of Mario. He dropped his third album GO and I still thought many people was sleepin on him and his work, but I still was a fan of Mario. The boy got talent, but he recently dropped his new single Break-Up, and when I heard it I was at a lost for words.
***http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sseEfZIq-qA ***
When I heard it for the first time, there was no confusion on who was singing the song. I knew then it was Mario, but I was wondering Why? ..Why is a dude with this much talent singing a song like this? Let alone, why is Gucci Mane on the track? I felt as though this soul truth had lost his soul or in a sense sold his soul, and was doin wat everyone else who is in the Hip Hop and R&B recession: GET A HOT BEAT, THROW SOME PEOPLE ON THE TRACK ( & between Drake, Weezy, and Gucci..I've had enough), AND ..ITS GONNA BE A HIT! I am amazed at how this track is rising up the charts. Matter of fact I've heard the track so much that its even trying to grow on me but my opinion remains the same. This track gets 2 stars, and maybe when his album comes out I can give him five stars overall...(AND IM STILL A FAN OF MARIO!!! THATS REAL)
"Now why would you wanna break-up??" -Because you lost yo soul....

Friend Like You
This one is dedicated mostly to Nicole Paramount; my sister, partner in crime, sidekick, doofus #1, and a love in my life ;D. I've known her almost my whole life, and I'm grateful for that. She checks me, sometimes put me in my place but most of all she real with me. Our friendship is a relationship and sometimes the way we talk to each other, you would think we was really "together". So today I just wanted to tell her HOW much I APPRECIATE her. How much I love her, etc. No one can replace her, or ever in life be up to her par. Even for those who try. No matter who's in my life, and appears to be occupying my time I would trade it all to be with Nicole. Well I think that's enough said on this one, don't want to get too lovey dove. But I LOVE YOU NICOLE PARAMOUNT! I dedicate Friend Like You by Sammie to you.
And to all my other people in my life whether you play a small role or a big role I ♥ you also. I appreciate you putting up wit me :D!
So for all y'all bloggers out there tell someone you appreciate them today, before its over. There's nothing like the feeling of not knowing, and living with things unsaid. Because the clock is ticking, time is wasting, and you never want to be too late.
sincerely yours,
Capt. Slick

Preggo ..and Im not talkin about Spaghetti Sauce :0
Is it just me, or is having a baby at a young age the "thing" to do? We could go on for days about this subject but imma be careful wat I say because I know this is a very sensitive subject to many. Yes.I understand accidents happen, Yes. I understand that if you're not protecting yourself, pregnancy can be a result. Yes. I understand that your bf/ lover is going off to war and the benefits would help. The list could go on, but honestly whats the deal? Is the media sending out the wrong message? Juno, Knocked Up, The Secret Life of the AMERICAN Teenager, and one of MTV's newest series 16 and Pregnant, etc. all are examples of how the media protrays being young and pregnant. But are they helping young viewers, or are they apart of the problem?? For example when I first saw the previews of the MTV show 16 and pregnant I really didn't understand the purpose of the show, and was a bit disturbed by it. " I'm an honor student, I'm on the varsity volleyball team, I also have a part time job at a nearby Dairy Queen, with my busy schedule I barley have time to sleep. BUT all thats about to change...BECAUSE..(waaiiit for it...)..IM PREGNANT!" (just an example) as if being pregnant is something to brag about.
It appeared to me as though this show in a since was more so praising these young, high school, soon to be mothers than really showing the truth. But I soon changed my impression as I became a viewer. It showed the Good, the little bit bad, and some ugly about pregnancy in general, and being 16 and pregnant. I understood that this show was a way of showing another persons perspective on this touchy subject so that maybe someone in that same lifestyle would decide to do something different than have a child at a young age. This show can act as a double edge sword it can be either; a lesson to learn, or a "monkey see, monkey do"..hopefully it will be another lesson learned for many! To all my ladies; please protect yourself, take care of yourself, don't be selfish and bring a child into this world for all the wrong reasons, and understand that having a child is a LIFETIME decision (nothing temporary). And for all the fellas, when you find out that the child is yours; just remember all those times you was eggin her to give you some, the time when you didn't protect yourself, know that it takes TWO to mingle, and take care of your responsibilities for the childs sake. ..Amen..
P.S...(In this RECESSION, it's hard to take care of a child alone).

Who is she?
Get up on it!!!
Now if you be on music like I do, you would kno that not too many artists are really out there doin somethin, and buyin a cd is not really worth it. I always say an album is not a good album if you can't listen to it from beginnning to end. Welll I've listened to this album from BEGINNING TO END AND ON REPEAT. Im lovin it! Urban, hood, thuggin, n a lil sweet somethin is on it too haha. He has a lil bit of everything for everybody to bounce their head too. Inspirational like his new single Champion, then of course he got the hood-thuggin cash flowin tracks like Loco wit the Cake, and Born an OG feat Luda, and I can't forget to mention about the RnB..songs like Love Somebody feat Jeremiah, and Mines feat The Dream. Jus to list a few ;D...But overall this album gets two thumbs up from me. Go cop it, roll yo windows down and get some Ace in yo system, and enjoy the rest of the summer...stop listenin to those other artist thats out right now .."cough"garbage "cough"...but thats another subject :D Wake up and stop sleepin on Ace HOOOOD!

♥ Nicole Paramount and Capt. been friends since second grade both in college now so they been in this for a minute. They know mostly everything about eachother and have love for all the same things, probably except for when it come to dudes..ha..Well, Nicole Paramount wants to become a broadcaster so shes into all the... "whats hot, whats not", and all the CURRENT events and well The Capt. is real nice with her words. They dont call her captain slick for nothin..;)
On the phone one day jus talkin about all the current hots n nots, etc. and Nicole said man I think we should get a blog started, start sharin our thoughts and stuff cuz I'm sure its some people that feel the same way, and Capt. you really should of went into journalism cuz i really like the way you write. But they needed a name. So they started thinkin wat could they could call themselves thats hot, unique, and unknown..? underdawg.beauties is what came to mind. .:underdawg.beauties:. young females who are "go gettas", classy, fashionable, and most of all looked over in society, not because they don't fit in, but because they don't blend. Its more to em than your average. Stereotypes don't really stick to them because they're made up of a different substance, and for that people can't see em. ..

The One
I recently heard Mary J. Blige new song, “The One” featuring Drake. Now I don’t know about you but Drake is the last person I could picture being on one of Mary’s tracks. (In my opinion Drake is played out and overrated already… Best I Ever Had has been playin for appx. a year now, still no album drop.) But enough about him, lets get back to the track. If I had to rate it on a scale from 1-10 (with 1 being the lowest) I’d rate it a 5. Question: Why??? Answer: Lyrics…GREAT!!! “Let me break it down to you, if you don’t get it. Quality…I’m custom fitted” (you can’t say that don’t go hard…cuz it does) Beat…NICE! Lovin the pop-techno feel it has (clubbin, break dancing vibe). Now you may say well a 5 is average, yea it is…but when has Mary J. Blige done average?? Mary is the Queen of this RnB thing. I mean, how do you go from “Officially Missing You” to “Be Without You” to get to something like “The One”??? idk. Overall I felt like the song wasn’t her style, it doesn’t fit her. I could picture someone young n fresh like Ciara, Rihanna, Keri, or if everything else failed I could even see Dawn from Danity Kane… (haha jus kiddin wit the last one) to do a song like this. But not Mary… I mean Mary has practically lived her life, she found her “one” so why is she on the track? I’ll never know. Jus how I'm feelin about it. My expectations for Mary J. is kinda high so to hear something like this Imma do a Whomp!..Whomp!..Whomp! to "The One". I love Mary as an artist but lately, musically she hasn’t been someone I’m vibin off on the ipod or in my car....
